Hoverboard Lights Stay On But It's Not Moving or Won't Balance

When your hoverboard lights stay on, but the hoverboard is not moving or won't balance, then you have a problem. Luckily, this can be a quick fix that most non-technical type people might be able to handle.

The problem where the lights stay on a hoverboard is usually related to the two sensors inside known as hoverboard gyroscopes. Each side of a hoverboard has its own gyroscope sensor that control that side of the hoverboard.

Hoverboard Light Stays On One Side

If you're experiencing a problem where a hoverboard light stays on one side, but not the other, it is usually related to the gyroscope that controls that side. There really is no way to repair a hoverboard gyroscope, so we suggest that it simply be replaced instead.

You can either find a match to your gyroscope and replace it accordingly (we do stock many brands of gyrscopes) or buy a full hoverboard repair kit and replace the motherboard and both gyroscopes. The repair kit is the sure-fire way to fix a hoverboard with lights that are stuck on.

Hoverboard All Lights Stay On

If all lights stay on your hoverboard but it's not moving then its most likely that both of your gyroscopes are bad. What will sometimes happen is that when one of the gyroscopes goes bad, the other one goes along with it. The voltage may experience a change, causing the second gyroscope to also go out. And, as mentioned above, when gyroscopes go out, the hoverboard lights stay on and it won't balance.

To repair a hoverboard with all lights on, we recommend replacing both of the gyroscopes. The best way to ensure that you're using compatible parts is to buy a hoverboard repair kit and replace the sensors with a full matching kit.

Replacing Hoverboard Gyroscopes

Replacing hover board gyroscopes isn't difficult at all. In fact, the more difficult part is actually sourcing the parts needed to replace it. When replacing a gyroscope you want to make sure that it matches the other gyroscope in your hoverboard. If your are using gyroscopes that don't match, it could cause a irregular voltage and result in capacitor blowing up (which is a scary sound).

As such, we ultimately recommend people to buy a hoverboard repair kit and do a full replacement when their hoverboard lights stay on.

Finding a Replacement Gyroscope

If you've decided to replace the gyroscope instead of buying the kit, you will need to find the correct one. Go to our gyroscope product page and read the description carefully as it will tell you how to match up your gyroscope with the one that you need for your hoverboard.

Once you've found the right hoverboard gyroscope for sale, go to our guide on how to replace hoverboard gyroscope sensors for instructions on how to install them.
